Generally, actors hate having their headshots taken. A ‘stills’ camera is a very different beast to a ‘movie’ camera and without other actors and lines to speak, let alone costume, props and a director, staring into it’s lens can feel lonely & awkward. So instead, return it’s gaze. If you treat the camera as another actor on stage, giving it your full focus & attention, approaching it with a simple ‘action’ or ‘intention’ you will engage with it and, by extension, anyone who looks at your headshot.
